A periodic tenancy is for an indefinite period and can be terminated by notice. Tenants are required to provide the landlord with 21 days written notice if they wish to end their tenancy. The landlord must provide tenants with written notice:
- 42 days if they or any of their family require the property for their own use.
- 42 days if the property has been sold.
- 90 days for any other reason.
- Up to 4 days should be added to the above to provide for service of the Notice.
If tenants wish to vacate during a landlords notice they are still required to provide the landlord with 21 days’ notice.
